The Northville PomPon community service program is designed to unite the girls on the JV and Varsity teams in supporting worthwhile causes throughout our metro Detroit community. Over the past few years, the girls have brought their smiles and enthusiasm to needy men, women and children all who've truly benefited from and appreciated their generosity. In every case, the girls have walked away from each experience fully energized and appreciative of the opportunity.
The added benefit of participation is the girls have community service credits that are critically important for both National Honors qualification and college applications.
This years program once again has NHS PomPon working with The Miracle League of Michigan, Northville Civic Concern, Capuchin Soup Kitchen and a new partner PB&J Outreach. The following are the tentative dates and times for our efforts.

Upcoming charitable events
Can Do Drive- August, 2010
Pom teams collected canned goods and baby items during their pom clinics. All donations went to Civic Concern
The Miracle League of Michigan. Saturday, August 18 - 10:00am-1:30pm - 8 girls needed to be baseball buddies for special need children. The girls help their "buddies" bat, catch and run the bases as they enjoy the special game of baseball.
Northville Civic Concern Can Drive - October. The girls will go door to door with can drive flyers and collect the goods a week later. Dates to still be determined. The Northville Civic Concern is a local food bank serving the Northville community. Their shelves are running very low and they depend greatly on the assistance of the community to help those in need.
PB&J Outreach - Saturday, November 10 - 9am - noon/15 girls needed to go to Detroit and pass out much needed men and women's clothing to area families. The girls will be asked to gather gently used men and women's clothes to bring to the Plymouth distribution center prior to November 10. Note: this event will also need two-three adult chaperones to assist the girls
Capuchin Soup Kitchen - Saturday, December 1. Breakfast service 8a-10:30a/8 girls needed. Lunch service 11a-1:30p/12 girls needed. The girls work the Connor location and feed the homeless. Note: this event will also need two adult chaperones to assist each shift.
We are looking forward to the girls participation in these great efforts. We will be posting all the confirmed information on the NHS PomPon team website and will require the girls to sign up on the website as well. Sign up early as slots fill up fast. Sign up will begin the week of July 16.
Attention JV parents. We are also looking for parents to take on the Community Service program next year. It's an incredibly worthwhile position and requires minimal commitment as so many parents want to join in and help. If you're interested please contact Monica and Mario Inchaustegui at 248-380-9513.
